Nutrient Management Day set for Aug. 23

Manure spreader calibration and fertilizer timing are two topics that will be covered at the Nutrient Management Day program Aug. 23 at North Dakota State University’s Carrington Research Extension Center.

Andy Scholting of Nutrient Advisers LLC, West Point, Neb., is the featured speaker. He will discuss manure brokering.

The program, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., also will include updates on nutrient management regulations, a composting demonstration and field tours.

“Both crop producers and livestock owners are encouraged to attend this event,” says Mary Berg, area Extension livestock environmental management specialist at the Carrington center. “Learning to make manure a high-quality fertilizer makes money sense as it is a readily available resource for North Dakota producers.”

The cost to attend the program is $15 per person, which includes lunch.
