Pierre, SD – If you’re involved in South Dakota’s beef industry, you won’t want to miss the 68th Annual South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association Convention and Trade Show November 29-December 1 at the Watertown Event Center and Ramkota.

SDCA is pleased to announce that Governor Dennis Daugaard has been added as a featured luncheon speaker on Wednesday, November 30.

“We’re excited to have Governor Daugaard attending our event this year,” said Jodie Anderson, SDCA Executive Director. “We look forward to hearing his insights regarding the state of South Dakota’s economy and what we might expect during the upcoming 2017 Legislative Session. We’re also pleased to provide attendees the opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns directly with the Governor.”

Secretary of State Shantel Krebs has also been added to the SDCA Convention Agenda. She will provide a re-cap of the election and highlights of the new online business registration system during the Welcome & Opening Session on Wednesday morning, November 30.

In addition, there will be a panel discussion regarding cattle marketing issues during the Joint Council meeting on Wednesday morning.

Anderson noted, “We know our members are concerned about the cattle markets and we felt it was imperative to address this vital topic during the Convention. SDCA and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) have been working hard to address concerns surrounding the markets, particularly the volatility in the futures markets, and we have put together a top-notch group of experts to address questions from our members and other beef producers who are able to join us in Watertown.”

SDCA President, Todd Wilkinson, will moderate the quick-paced discussion beginning at 10:00 am. Panelists include: Craig Uden, NCBA President-Elect and Chair of NCBA’s CME Working Group; Don Close, Vice President of Food and Agribusiness Research at RaboAgrifinance; and Commodities Broker Brian Kooima.

Plan to attend the 68th Annual SDCA Convention and Trade Show November 29-December 1, 2016 at the Watertown Event Center and Ramkota. Full details, including registration and hotel information, are available on SDCA’s website at www.sdcattlemen.org or call the office at 605.945.2333.
