Thanksgiving has long been a holiday celebrated with family and the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. Friendsgiving is the kind of Thanskgiving you get to have on your terms. You get the opportunity to choose your flock (your best buds) and mix things up with adventurous flavors and less traditional foods! Friendsgiving, a potluck-style celebration, usually takes place on the Wednesday before or the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. This new tradition has caught fire the past five years and millennials (consumers 18-35) are driving the movement.

To kick off the holiday season, the American Lamb Board (ALB) has partnered with Flatout Flatbread and Share Our Strength (SOS) to inspire consumers to incorporate American Lamb into their Friendsgiving celebrations while raising money for SOS’s No Kid Hungry Program. The ALB and Flatout Flatbread hope to raise $12,000 to help end child hunger.

How it works:

For every Friendsgiving recipe, tip or photo that is shared, the ALB and Flatout Flatbread will donate $1 to No Kid Hungry, up to $12,000.

To join in on the fun:

1. Like @americanlamb and @flatoutlamb on Facebook.

2. Share our recipes with your friends as you build your friendsgiving menu. For each share/post that includes #FlatoutLamb and #Friendsgiving, we will donate $1 to No Kid Hungry. It’s that simple!

3. Show us how you and your flock of friends are ceLAMBrating friendsgiving with lamb and flatbread. Dazzle us for your chance to win the Holiday Feast Prize Pack (including the lamb cut and flatout products of your choice!)

Our CeLAMBrate Friendsgiving page (http://bit.ly/2fBWdJI) provides links to recipes and a real-time social feed. Once a post has been shared using our hashtags, they’ll populate in our feed, letting us not only track activity but also interact with members participating, which helps build our social channels.

The ALB has created three new Friendsgiving recipes: the fancy and festive roasted sheet pan rack of lamb, the portable lamb lasagna, and the easy and delicious smoky lamb meatball and sweet potato puree flatbread.

We’ve also teamed up with a number of blogger influencers to promote the campaign and inspire consumers to incorporate American Lamb in their own celebrations. The ALB and Flatout Flatbread bloggers will be posting their Friendsgiving recipes and menus throughout the month of November. Check back to view the blogger recipes.
