SD Pork Producers Council announces the 2017 Pork Promoter of the Year Award recipients

SIOUX FALLS — The South Dakota Pork Producers Council (SDPPC) honored Craig Andersen of Centerville, S.D., with the 4th Annual Pork Promoter of the Year Award at the Master Pork Producers Banquet on Jan. 10. “This is the fourth year for this award that South Dakota Pork Producers Council is offering to recognize their peers. The award was designed to recognize an individual or family, organization, company or county group who has done an outstanding job promoting pork and/or the pork industry on a local, state or regional level. We are proud to honor him with this award, he is willing to go above and beyond to help promote pork,” commented SDPPC executive board member and association services and membership committee chairman, Mark Fuoss of Armour.

Craig and Gail Andersen run a family farm near Centerville, S.D. They have a diversified farm consisting of row crops, feeder pigs and cattle. They finish pigs for Brentwood Colony. Andersen’s son Tyler recently had an open house for his new finishing barn.

Craig has helped with the 4th grade program in Sioux Falls, Hot Harley Nights, many grocery store promotions and the Taste of Elegance in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. He has been on the Executive Board for 4 years, is the chairman of the Production and Profitability Committee. He also serves on the Public Policy, Demand Enhancement, Budget and Finance and Annual Meeting and Trade Show Committees. He also sits on the NPPC Environmental Committee.

Craig has gone to many Planning and Zoning meetings about pig farming and went to Washington D.C. on behalf of the South Dakota pig farmers to lobby for issues relating to farmers. He is also the Chairman of the Delaware Township board.
