The second session of the Aberdeen-area 2018 HuntSAFE courses will be May 2, 9 and 16.

The classes will be 6-9:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Terry O’Keefe Hunter Education Center at the Brown County Rifle Range, 5.5 miles south of the intersection of U.S. highways 12 and 281. Participants need to attend all three classes to receive a HuntSAFE certification and identification card.

The course is for youth 12 and older and 11-year-olds who will turn 12 this year. It is a free classroom course with certified HuntSAFE instructors that is sponsored by the Sportsman’s Club of Brown County. This classroom course should not be confused with online HuntSAFE courses offered by the state Game, Fish and Parks Department.

Preregistration is required, and class openings are still available. To register or to view class offerings in your area, go to gfp.sd.gov/hunter-education/.
