13 compete in Hub Area 4-H Rodeo Ambassador competition

The 6th Annual Hub Area 4-H Rodeo will be held July 6 and 7 at the Brown County Fairgrounds. Over 100 4-H contestants from across South Dakota will compete in 10 rodeo events. There is no charge to come enjoy the rodeo and cheer on your favorite contestants.

There are 13 Ambassador Contestants competing for the 2019 Hub Area 4-H Junior and Senior Ambassador titles. The competition will begin its schedule of activities July 5 with registration of the ambassador contestants at 5 p.m. at the rodeo grounds on the Brown County Fairgrounds. The ambassador horsemanship competition will follow the speeches and interviews. Horsemanship will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. Coronation will be July 6 at 10 a.m. followed by the rodeo.

Junior Ambassador contestants

Candice Aamot is the 11 year old daughter of Bjorn and Anne Aamot from DeSmet, S.D. She will be a 6th grader at DeSmet Middle School. In her free time Candice is a trick rider performing at venues in the upper Midwest. She also enjoys reading, hunting, and training her dog, Balto. She will be competing in barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying this weekend.

Kayeleigh Bowden is the 13 year old daughter of Teresa and Todd Keleher. She is enrolled in the 8th grade at Huron Middle School where she participates in track, cross country, marching band, and is on the honor roll. She is a member of the Huron swim team and qualified for the Jr High National Finals in shooting sports. She also competes in Little Britches, 4-H, and Jr. High rodeos. In 4-H, she also participates in showing horses, judging, special foods, and community service projects. Kayeleigh will be competing in barrels, poles, goats, and the ambassador contest. She wishes all contestants a fun rodeo!

Sierra Boyd is the eleven year old daughter of Robby and Carrie Boyd from Hayti. She will be a fifth grader at Castlewood Elementary School. Sierra is involved with basketball, oral interp, 4-H dog and horse projects, and is a junior member of Auxiliary Post 250. She will be competing in barrels, poles, goat tying, and the ambassador contest. Sierra would like everyone this weekend to have fun, be safe, and good luck.

Kyler Foreman is the 10 year old daughter of Travis and Kassandra Foreman from Orient, S.D. She will be attending Miller Elementary School in the fall as a fifth grader where she is on the basketball and volleyball teams. She lives on a farm with her parents, older brother Teagan and younger sister Kelsa. Kyler helps with chores and enjoys being outside spending time with all her animals. Aside from rodeo she also shows meat goats in 4-H. This weekend Kyler will be competing in barrel racing, pole bending, and the ambassador contest. Kyler would like to wish everyone a safe and fun 4-H rodeo season.

Destiny Four Horns is 10 years old and attends Willow Lake Elementary School. She will be in the fourth grade. She has wrote two horse books and participates in oral interp. This is the fourth year Destiny has competed in 4-H horse shows and 4-H rodeos. Her hobbies include riding horses with friends, roller blading, ice skating, and riding bike. This weekend she will be competing in the barrel racing, pole bending, and the Jr. Ambassador contest. Destiny would love to wish all the 4-H contestants the best of luck.

Jencie Goergen is the 12 year old daughter of Stacy and Amy Goergen from Huron, S.D. She will be in 6th grade where she competes in volleyball, basketball, plays softball, and does dance as well. Jencie enjoys all sports, riding horses, and hanging out with friends. This weekend she will be competing in goat tying, breakaway, and the Ambassador contest. Jencie would like to say good luck this weekend to everyone.

Mia Holmstrom is the 10 year old daughter of Ray Holmstrom and Maggie Louris of Apple Valley, Minn. She has been doing South Dakota 4-H for three years during her summer break from Green Leaf Elementary School. She competes in swimming, hockey, and is a softball pitcher. In her free time, she enjoys hover boarding, reading books, spending time with family and friends, and competing in 4-H horse show. Mia will be competing in pole bending, barrel racing, and the Jr. Ambassador contest. It is her pleasure and sincere wish that all 4-H contestants have good luck and enjoy this 4-H rodeo.

Brielle Jenc is the 12 year old daughter of Wayne and Kristin Jenc. She will be a 7th grader at Watertown Middle School. Brielle enjoys playing flute, volleyball, and playing with all of her pets. This weekend she will be competing in barrel racing, goat tying, and the ambassador contest. Brielle would like to wish everyone good luck!

Cami Wolles is the 11 year old daughter of Ed and Teresa Wolles from Dell Rapids, S.D. She will be a sixth grader at Dell Rapids St. Mary’s this fall. In her free time she enjoys riding horse and swimming. Cami sows cats at her 4-H fair. This weekend she will be competing in barrels, poles, and goat tying.

Senior Ambassador contestants

Cally Anderson is the 17 year old daughter of Corey and Crystal Anderson of Huron, S.D. This spring she graduated from Huron High School and will attend Black Hills State University in the fall where she plans to major in political science to become a lawyer in the future. In her free time, she spends time with family, friends, and promotes her boutique, The Rebellious Rose. This weekend you can watch Cally compete in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and breakaway roping. One of Cally’s favorite motto’s is “When you love what you have, you will have everything you need.”

Tori Buffington is the 14 year old daughter of Teresa and Todd Keleher. She is enrolled in the 9th grade at Huron High School. Her activities include cross country, track, marching band, vocal, orchestra, and is on the Honor Roll. She was selected for All State Orchestra this year playing her bass. She is on the swim team. In 4-H, she participates in rodeo, horse shows, special foods, community service, and was Second High Individual Jr. Horse Judger. She also competes in Little Britches and Jr. High Rodeo where she qualified for nationals in shooting sports. This weekend she will be competing in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and the ambassador contest. Tori wishes all contestants good luck!

Avery Schacht is the daughter of Theresa and Will Bennett from Lake Andes, S.D. She will be a Junior at Andes Central High School where she participates in volleyball, National Honor Society, and Student Council. In Avery’s free time, she enjoys working with her 4-H livestock and spending time with family. She received the Miss Congeniality award at the state 4-H ambassador contest. This weekend Avery will be competing in barrels, poles, breakaway roping, and the ambassador contest. Avery would like to wish her fellow contestants good luck and hopes they enjoy the rodeo.

Addyson Wittnebel is the 15 year old daughter of Barrett and Peggy Wittnebel. She will be a tenth grader at Castlewood High School where she competes in cross country, basketball, and oral interp. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, trail riding, swimming, and babysitting. This weekend she will be competing in barrels, poles, breakaway, ribbon roping, and the ambassador contest.
