South Dakota Make It With Wool contests scheduled

The 2019 Make It With Wool district contests have been scheduled in Aberdeen, Parker, Brookings, and Newell, S.D. For more information and to sign up, contact Ida Marie Snorteland, Snorteland@blackhills.com and/or www.sdsheepgrowers.org/make-it-with-wool.html.

Contests will be held:

• District 3: Aberdeen, Aug. 17, with the Public Revue at the Home Arts Building, Brown County Fair at 3 p.m. Judging will be in the Home Arts Building starting at 11 a.m. Director: Rebecca Leonard, 605-450-8567.

• District 4: Brookings, Sept. 14, with the contest starting at 9:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1010 8th St. S (corner of Medary Ave. and 8th St S). Contact District Director Dianne Perry at 605-546-2190.

• District 5: Parker, Sept. 9, starting at 5 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 490 1st Street. Contact: Lavonne Meyer at 605-351-4502 ©.

• District 1 and 2: Newell, Sept. 19, with the contest starting at 3:30 p.m. in the NVN Senior Center, and the style show at the Newell Golf Course. Contact Ida Marie Snorteland, district director, at 605-642-5123.

The 2019 State Contest will be held in Spearfish on Sept. 28 during the South Dakota Sheep Growers Meeting. For more information about the district and state contests and to receive an entry blank, contact Ida Marie Snorteland, 642-5123 or Snorteland@blackhills.com.

Categories for the contest include pre-teen, 12 years old and younger; juniors, 13-16; seniors, 17-24; adults, over 24; and professional. Other divisions include: made for others, wearable accessory, recycled article, and novelty, quilt, and afghan’s. There is something for everyone.

The South Dakota Make It With Wool contest is sponsored by the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association and the American Wool Council.
