The Northeast South Dakota Community Action Program dba GROW South Dakota recently received a $7,500 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation’s Homeownership Counseling Grant Program to support homebuyer education and counseling. The Wells Fargo Foundation has been a longtime supporter of the GROW SD homebuyer education program.

The grant will serve more than 125 participants who will receive homeownership counseling and financial education, which will help them to improve their credit scores, reduce personal debt and build their savings to reach the dream of buying a home. Participants will also learn how to build assets, access mainstream financial services, and gain the information they need to make sound financial decisions for themselves and their families.

GROW SD homebuyer education customers report success after receiving support. In follow-up surveys, more than half report creating and/or maintaining a budget; more than one-third paid down debt; and 20% cleared up items on their credit report. In addition, 95% purchased a home within their budget after their counseling and education. Wells Fargo funding has been integral to these results.

Grow South Dakota continues to find solutions that create opportunities for South Dakota residents to achieve their dream of home ownership. More information can be found at www.growsd.org, or contact us at 605-698-7654.
