Horse in roadway causes crash in Minnesota

RED WING, Minn. — A late-night collision between a car and a horse sent a Lake City woman to the hospital early on Aug. 5.

Sharon Margaret Gnotke, 70, of Lake City was northbound on U.S. Highway 61 between Lake City and Red Wing at about 3:14 a.m. Monday when the 2000 Honda CRV she was driving struck a horse that was in the roadway, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

Gnotke was transported to Mayo Clinic Health in Red Wing with non-life threatening injuries. No update on her condition or the condition of the horse was available.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and Red Wing EMS also responded to the scene.
