The annual contest mixing strength, agility and farm physics brought two standout champions under the spotlight of the South Dakota sun the afternoon of Aug. 18.

Lona Krueger, of Stratford, and Jason Boike, of Dawson, Minn., were the female and male overall champions at the annual Super Farmer contest at the Brown County Fair. They’re the proud winners of the traditional belt buckles.

Participants were timed in four contests: a loaded wheelbarrow obstacle course, bale stack, bale throw and fence post driving.

Here are the runners up in the female and male divisions:

Second place: Michaela Olson of Aberdeen and Shawn Schultz of Bath.

Third place: Samantha Olson and Cole Mitzel, both of Aberdeen.

The contest was sponsored by Farm Forum and Kippley Angus Farm.

Jason Boike of Dawson, Minn., won first place overall champion at this year’s Super Farmer Contest on Aug. 18 at the Brown County Fair. Lona Krueger of Stratford was named women’s champion.
