On June 4, Dakota Rural Action announced a farmer and rancher resiliency relief fund with Dakota Resource Council and funded by Farm Aid. Dakota Rural Action is administering the program in South Dakota, and Dakota Resource Council is doing the same in North Dakota.

Please visit www.dakotarural.org/relief/ for more information and to find the online link to the application form. time The relief payment is a one time $500 payment for essential living expenses, like food, medical expenses, power or other family needs. Decisions will be made and funds will be distributed weekly until the funds are gone.

Funds are very limited and everyone who needs help is encouraged to fill out the online form. That will be the fastest way to apply. If you need any help or have any questions please contact Jordan Walker at (605) 697-5204 ext. 250 or e-mail him at relief@dakotarural.org.

The money isn’t enough, and the hard times for farmers and ranchers didn’t start with the pandemic outbreak, but DRA is thankful for the help and support of Farm Aid which makes it possible to bring this small sign of support.

The information found at FLAGinc.org is also very important to producers with questions about Federal relief programs. FLAG has important guides to the USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) and a short guide to navigating COVID-19 relief programs.
