Producers invited to list farm in local food directory
The South Dakota Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) is made up of a diverse group of specialty and niche producers in the state. The organization works to promote non-commodity products that include fruits and vegetables, specialty meats, wine, organic crops, specialty grains, honey and more.
SDSPA launched a new website (https://sdspecialtyproducers.org) in 2019 which features ‘Producer & Product’ pages to showcase various crop, livestock and product industries South Dakota offers across the state. Consumers seeking local foods are encouraged to view the site and find farmers right in their own communities.
“So many foods are grown and raised in South Dakota, and farmers selling direct to consumers can be found in all parts of the state. These foods are fresh, high quality products, and purchasing them helps enhance your community’s economics,” said Chris Zdorovtsov, SDSPA Contractor.
We invite all producers who are selling directly to consumers to have their businesses pinned on the product pages. We are excited to help direct customers to our state’s local producers. Please see a complete listing of the products here: https://sdspecialtyproducers.org/producers/.
Each page features a Google map of the farm or retail locations in the state. We encourage members as well as non-members to be listed to help consumers find you. The middle grid area features the contact information and websites of SDSPA members. Members are also invited to list specific types of products they have in the lower tables.
These pages offer more than a directory of local foods. For example, our meat pages also feature information on area meat lockers or butcher shops, regulatory resources, and more. We hope they will provide a place to support new and current growers/producers who want to find information on production or regulations or who want to connect to supporting organizations. We invite producers to recommend resource links or relevant industry news for sharing on the pages.
If you are selling directly to a grocer or a restaurant that information can also be pinned on our grocer/retail or culinary pages. The site also has a listing of all Farmers Markets in the state. If you are seeking a Community Support Ag (CSA) program, food hub, or online market, the site also provides these listings.
To be listed, please send your business’s name, contact information and website to SDSPA at email@example.com and we will get you on the site.
