The 68th Annual Sioux Empire Livestock Show is being held Jan. 26-30 on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls.

Livestock shows and sales, as well as commercial exhibits, are being held in the Expo Center. The event, which is sponsored by the Agribusiness Division of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, is free and open to the public.

The Sioux Empire Livestock Show is one of the only market avenues in the nation this year for youth exhibitors. People are expected to travel from across the county to participate in the shows and sales. The nature of the event and the large size of the Expo Center make it possible for the event to proceed with social distancing precautions in place.

The Livestock Show officially kicked off Tuesday, Jan. 26. Shows and sales have taken place throughout the week, including purebred cattle shows and sales, prospect calf and breeding heifer shows, a market swine show, market goat show and market lamb show. A trade show takes place in the north end of the Expo Building Jan. 27-28. A complete schedule of shows and sales is available at

The signature event of the week is the Mayor’s Round-Up and Sale of Champions, which takes place Friday, Jan. 29, at 5 p.m. in the north end of the Expo Building. The Sale of Champions allows attendees to see the “best of the best” market livestock at an exciting live auction. Area businesses and individuals will pay premiums to youth exhibitors by bidding on the top market steers, swine, lambs and goats shown at the Sioux Empire Livestock Show earlier in the week. Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken will participate in the event and emcee Jim Woster and auctioneers Joel Westra and Pete Atkins will lead the sale. A silent auction will raise funds for scholarships for Sioux Empire Livestock Show youth exhibitors.

The Sioux Empire Livestock Show promotes and celebrates the importance of agriculture in the region. The Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the show since 1954. As the leading Sioux Falls area business advocate, the Chamber represents members by advancing and promoting the economic health and quality of life in the region. For more information, visit and
