South Dakota FFA’s annual State Leadership Development Event (LDE) competition continued this year in a new format, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

FFA members from across South Dakota traded their normal travel to Pierre for a virtual format, in which State LDEs were held throughout December and January.

Members qualified through district competitions, and the top two teams and top three individuals from each of the seven FFA districts in South Dakota advanced to the virtual state competition.

FFA members and chapters were recognized for their success in three of the 11 leadership areas at a special live Zoom awards announcement. Each state qualifying participant will receive a portable charger sponsored by SD Midwest Dairy Association and SD FFA Star Partners.

State-winning teams and individuals will advance to the National FFA Leadership Development Events in Indianapolis next fall.
