Prescribed fire workshops set for May
Two landowner prescribed fire workshops are being hosted by the South Dakota Grassland Coalition and Partners this May.
The workshops are one day events and will be hosted on May 25 and May 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Dakota State University Oak Lake Field Station in Astoria, South Dakota.
The workshop will cover many topics, including how to prepare a written burn plan, how to prepare a fire unit and how to implement a fire in a safe and effective manner. Training will also include live fire and equipment demonstrations.
While no specific certifications are offered during this course, it is an opportunity to learn core lessons applicable to grassland fires.
The event is free for South Dakota Grassland Coalition members and $35 for non-members. Participants can register by contacting Jan Rounds at the Watertown Regional Extension Center or at email@example.com.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all participants must pre-register to attend the event. All food and drinks will also be the participant’s responsibility.
