4-H Horse Judge’s Training July 23-24 in Huron
BROOKINGS – SDSU Extension will host a 4-H Horse Show Judge’s Training on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron on July 23-24, 2013. Anyone interested in becoming a Preferred South Dakota 4-H Horse Show Judge is invited to attend.
Judges are required to complete certification every three years to be listed as preferred.
The training will include:
· Overview of SD 4-H Horse Show Classes
· Judging etiquette
· Judging test
· Written test
Horse judges who hold current breed cards are welcome at the training, but are not required. Carded judges are required to complete and submit a written exam along with $20 to be on the Preferred SD 4-H Horse Show Judges list.
The training has two sessions beginning July 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with instruction and classes in the Armory Classroom.; and then wrapping up July 24, from 6:30 a.m. to noon at the Beef Complex with judging and written tests, and summary. Once you’ve registered, an electronic receipt will be sent to the email address listed during checkout. If you are a current card-holding judge for a breed association, you have the option of selecting ‘Written Test Only.’ The test will be mailed to you in July.
