4-H Horse Judge’s Training July 23-24 in Huron

BROOKINGS – SDSU Extension will host a 4-H Horse Show Judge’s Training on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron on July 23-24, 2013. Anyone interested in becoming a Preferred South Dakota 4-H Horse Show Judge is invited to attend.

Judges are required to complete certification every three years to be listed as preferred.

The training will include:

· Overview of SD 4-H Horse Show Classes

· Judging etiquette

· Judging test

· Written test

Horse judges who hold current breed cards are welcome at the training, but are not required. Carded judges are required to complete and submit a written exam along with $20 to be on the Preferred SD 4-H Horse Show Judges list.

The training has two sessions beginning July 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with instruction and classes in the Armory Classroom.; and then wrapping up July 24, from 6:30 a.m. to noon at the Beef Complex with judging and written tests, and summary. Both portions are required for certification. To register visit: http://bit.ly/14aMgTc. The registration fee is $40 per person. After July 1, the fee will increase to $55.

Once you’ve registered, an electronic receipt will be sent to the email address listed during checkout. If you are a current card-holding judge for a breed association, you have the option of selecting ‘Written Test Only.’ The test will be mailed to you in July.
