Open Driving and Hitch Show – Aug. 15
The Brown County Fair Open Driving and Hitch Show will be Saturday, Aug. 15, during the Brown County Fair at the Akkerman Arena on the Brown County Fairgrounds. The show begins at 10 a.m.
This is the third year for the show. Last year, the entries tripled from the 2013 entries.
“It is exciting to witness its growth and watch the exhibitors having fund with the equine wagons and cars,” Pearl Holt, one of the organizers said in a news release. “It is especially gratifying to see the participation of AARP citizen and the youth that are just starting to drive.”
The Akkerman Arena has special parking available. Use the east entrance, Gate F on Dakota Street. Judge will be Kay Barton.
Spectators will be interested to view the 34 different classes, including six-up hitch, single hitch, draft horse hitch, farm team hitch, plus youth, ladies, men’s, team driving along with obstacle course, cloverleaf and pole bending.
Entry fee is $10 per each open class and $5 for youth class. There will be over $3,000 in added money. There will be horses from the size of a miniature horse under 56 inches to huge draft horses.
“We would like you to attend this show as an exhibitor or a spectator,” Holt said. “If you see one of the sponsors of the show, thank them for making it possible.”
The show committee of JoAnn Williams, Bill Schlosser and Holt look forward to seeing you there.
