Team penning and ranch rodeo added to SD State Fair

HURON, S.D. – A team penning and ranch rodeo have been added to the South Dakota State Fair’s performance horse schedule, making for a full schedule of events in the Hippodrome and North Arena.

The team penning will be held in the North Arena on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. There is guaranteed $500 added money. Pre-entry is available but not required. Pre-enter by contacting Barb Hammerstrom at 605-359-3196. Teams can also enter the day of the event by noon. The ranch rodeo will be held on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. in the Hippodrome. There is guaranteed $5,000 added money. There is a limit of 16 teams. Pre-entries must be postmarked by Saturday, Aug. 19. Events include Wild Cow Milking, Rope Mug Tying and Stray Gathering. The top four teams will advance to the Short Go.
