Letter: Duane Alm has experience

I strongly support the candidacy of Duane Alm for the Aberdeen Public Board of Education.

I have known Alm as an educator for a number of years. He is a person of high integrity and professional standards. He is very knowledgeable about education and puts forth a lot of energy and enthusiasm into his work.

Alm retired from a career in education as a teacher, principal, consultant and college supervisor of student teachers. He is a current member and past president of the Aberdeen school board, as well as past president of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota.

His leadership at state, local and regional levels is outstanding. In 2011, he received the Outstanding School Board Member of the Year Award. Duane Alm has pledged to be an advocate for students, to commit the time and energy to do a good job and to work hard to contribute to increasing achievement for all students.

He will continue efforts to assist the board in working with legislators to find a workable long-term solution for adequate funding for K-12 education.

Alm has my vote. Vote for the leader with experience on July 16!
