OUR VOICE: Area rancher honored for conservation practices

Farm Forum

Congratulations to rancher Jim Faulstich of Highmore. He was awarded the National Private Lands Fish and Wildlife Stewardship Award by the National Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.

The conservation award was given to Faulstich for the way he manages his land, according to a story by the Associated Press.

Jeff Vonk, Game, Fish and Parks secretary, said in the story that native and restored grasslands and wetlands are about 80 percent of Faulstich’s 5,300-acre ranch, making a good habitat for wildlife.

It’s great to see someone recognized for being successful and thinking beyond their own bottom line.

Great job, Jim.
