Thank You: Golf outing a success

Farm Forum

The Reach and Rise youth mentoring program, formerly Sidekicks, recently held its third annual Golf Balls for Smalls event Oct. 19.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who purchased one of our fundraising tickets. The funds allow us to match caring adults with our Smalls. Congratulations go out to the winners of $100: Steve Grewe, Don Lang, Jeanne Gibbs, Dick Neitzel, Paul Lang, Dave Haglund, Jen Shafer, Phil Livermont, Carrie VanOrman, Rob Dohman, Glenna Fouberg, George Cross, Dave Neilan, Al Kjenstad, Zach Flakus, Nate Reede and Scott Lunzman. Our grand prize winner was Jim Brown, $1,000.

We also would like to thank Zach Flakus from Northern State for arranging our location at Swisher Field. A big thank you to Stacy Vrchota, Darcy Schock and Kevin VanMeter for dropping the golf balls using their Aberdeen Fire and Rescue truck. Thank you also to our judges, who determined our prize winners: Duke Witte, president of the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce; fire chief Kevin VanMeter; Dan Grewe, youth sports director at the Aberdeen YMCA, and Aberdeen Mayor Mike Levsen.

Many thanks to our businesses who graciously donated to our cause. This event could not take place without the following supporters: Rezatto Group, Taco John’s, Jodi Brown Law Firm, Butler Machinery, Kessler’s, Western Printing, Lang’s Audio, TV and Appliance, Huff Construction, Angelhaus, Presentation Sisters, Parkview Nursery, Ophthalmology Associates, US Bank, Millstone Family Restaurant, Healthcare Plus Federal Credit Union, Barnett Vision, Aberdeen Chrysler Center, Century 21 Investment Realtors, NorthWestern Energy, Aberdeen Family YMCA, Wal-Mart, Twist Cone, Target, Northern State University bookstore, Presentation College, Dacotah Bank, Menards, Gellhaus & Gellhaus, Ken’s SuperFair Foods, Aberdeen Parks and Recreation and Sanford.

The Reach and Rise youth mentoring program wishes to once again thank everyone for their support. We look forward to 2014 and our fourth annual Golf Balls for Smalls event next October!
