Row Crop Expo in Watertown – Jan. 9

SDSU Watertown Regional Extension Center will host the Row Crop Expo January 9, 2014.

Northeast South Dakota farmers this is your chance to visit with all your SDSU Crops Specialists in one location on one day.

This year our featured speaker will be Paul Fixen Senior Vice President and Research Director International Plant Nutrition Institute. He travels the world dealing with fertility issues and will speak on Supporting 9 Billion People While Remaining Profitable at 10:30 a.m.

The event will start at 8:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by KWAT Radio Station. The program will start at 9:30 a.m. with Dennis Todey SDSU Extension Climatologist talking about the weather outlook for 2014. Then Paul Fixen at 10:30 followed by Lisa Elliot SDSU Commodity Marketing Specialist at 11:30 speaking on Crop Marketing Outlook and Risks.

Lunch will be provided to all registered participants 1:00 Nathan Mueller SDSU Extension Crop Specialist will look at Spring Wheat Seeding Rates, Variety Selection and Fungicide use; at 1:45 Ron Gelderman SDSU Extension Soils Specialist will talk on Fertilizer Issues. The program will finish with Paul O. Johnson SDSU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist discussing Weed Resistance, How Bad It Is at 2:30. The program will conclude around 3:00 p.m.

The program will be held at the Codington County Extension Complex in Watertown, 1910 West Kemp Ave. Registration is $5.00 at the door.
