Row Crop Clinic in Brookings – Jan. 17
SDSU Watertown Regional Extension Center will host the Row Crop Clinic, January 17, 2014, at the First Lutheran Church Activity Center in Brookings.
East Central South Dakota farmers this is your chance to visit with all of your SDSU Crops Specialists in one day.
The event will start at 8:00 a.m. with coffee and rolls, and visiting booths. Nathan Mueller SDSU Crops Specialist will start the morning speakers at 9:00 a.m. with talking on Soybean Seeding Rate, Row Spacing and Variety Selection. Then at 9:30 a.m. Dennis Todey will give the weather Outlook for 2014 Dennis is the SDSU Extension Climatologist.
After break the program will continue with Ron Gelderman, SDSU Extension Soil Specialist talking on Fertilizer Issues. At 11:15 a.m. Lisa Elliott, SDSU Commodity Marketing Specialist will speak on Crop Marketing Outlook and Risks.
Lunch will be provided to all registered participants. At 12:30 p.m. registration for the Private Applicator Training session starts. Government Issued photo ID’s are required to get certified. At 1:00 p.m. Paul O. Johnson, SDSU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist will talk on Weed Resistance How Bad It Is. At 1:45 p.m. Livestock Pesticides will be covered by Warren Rusche, SDSU Extension Cow Calf Field Specialist.
At 2:30 p.m. after break Paul O. Johnson will cover Pesticide Applicator Training, What You Need to Know. The program will conclude around 4:00 p.m.
The program will be held at the First Lutheran Church Activity Center in Brookings located on the corner at Main Ave and 8th Street at the north end of Main. Registration is $5.00 at the door.
